Here is my version (and yes, I know it needs updating):

    ZoneAlarm Extreme Security version: 10.0.250.000
    vsmon version: 10.0.250.000
    Driver version: 10.0.217.000
    Anti-virus engine version: 8.1.8.79
Anti-virus signature DAT file version: 1127658304
    ZoneAlarm Browser Security: 1.5.322.0

Win 7 Pro SP1 on a cable modem. Firefox, Chrome, and IE9

ZA told me Skype was infected and it wanted to reboot. I told it not to reboot and then rebooted manually (I reboot every morning).

Computer rebooted fine but Skype was gone. I downloaded and installed Skype again and all my previous settings were restored. Skype did not even ask me to log in.

Seems to be working now.I guess I will update ZA in a day or two once this gets resolved.

    I have had similar problems:

    - A few days ago, all executable programs stopped working. I had to reboot in safe mode with networking, download an updated virus signature file. This seemed to fix the problem.

    - this morning, zonealarm repeatedly complains that Skype is the "Hoax" virus. I can either remove skype, or shut down zonealarm, but I cannot run both at the same time.

    Hello;

This sounds like a False Positive,

You need to report the false positive to Kaspersky, the link to the procedure is contained in Guru Fax previous message. No report, no fix.

How to diagnose and/or report antivirus/antispyware false positives
NOTE: Only valid for ZA versions 10 or above.

First seek confirmation of the false detection; upload the file(s) to www.virustotal.com . If confirmed:
Go to the advanced settings of the antivirus/antipsyware section (Scan Option) and UNcheck "Enable automatic treatment". Restore the file from Quarantine and next time the threat is detected, you will be able to exclude it ("ignore always" or "ignore once").

Send the file(s) in a password protected zip to newvirus at kaspersky dot com. Subject: false positive. Include password in the e-mail. For faster response sign-up to kaspersky viruslab support at: https://my.kaspersky.com/en/support/viruslab and submit the file under the "Send request to Kaspersky Virus Lab" tab.

Please also report the name of the detection in the e-mail.

    Note that:
You can exclude the files from the 'on-access' scanning under the advanced settings of the antivirus/antispyware section (Exceptions)
You can exclude the files from the 'on-demand' scanning under the advanced settings of the antivirus/antispyware section (Scan target)

REMEMBER to remove the exclusions once the false positive has been corrected!

Again, no report to kaspersky for the false positive, no fix. Please report it as already explained.

No, thank you. As already mentioned you need to report the false positive to Kaspersky. So, instead of reporting technical details that will no help to fix the issue, please take the time instead to report the false positive.

    Thanks,

I think people were simply responding to the instructions in the post by GeorgeV :

"Me too post are not helpful...

Please Give the Exact Type and version of Zone Alarm used, Windows Version & SP Update used, Browser type and version, any other security tools installed and type of router or Internet connection used.
How do you connect to the Internet: Phone Line, Cable Modem, Router, Wifi, Blue Tooth, Osmosis?
any Error messages in the ZA logs?

The More information you post the more likely users here will be able to understand the issue and try to help."

There is no false positive on the current Skype version 6.7.X.X. If you have not updated your Skype recently please do so by downloading the installer from http://www.skype.com/en/download-skype/

Ensure your ZA antivirus signature is equal or higher than the number below mentioned. If not, update ZA

Antivirus signature DAT file version: 1127714048

Please ensure you have not altered your ZA advance antivirus settings for which files larger than 8MB are excluded from been scanned as the Skype executable is around 20MB and should not be scanned.

    do_not_scan_8MB.JPG

Finally users of version 10.X should, as a matter of urgency, update to the current version. As version 10 is outdated and potentially vulnerable. Before installing the new version is always best to remove the old. Keep note of your license key (just in case).

    Thanks,
    Fax
