    Default Firewall 'Off' - no icon alert (?)

    Good morning.

    WinXP Home, SP3;
    Avast 2014 (9.0.2006), (Free);
    ZA FW (free), v.11.0.780.

    I have newly installed Zonealarm firewall; it seems to be working satisfactorily, except that there is no immediate indication that the firewall is working properly, or even switched on!

    The blue taskbar 'ZA' icon only indicates that the program is running.

    If I turn the firewall off, by selecting "Snooze Firewall for 5 minutes...", or by by selecting "Off" for Basic Firewall and/or Application Control, the taskbar icon does not indicate any change of status.

    Even more worrying is that with this state of zero firewall protection, hovering over the ZA taskbar icon gives me the balloon message, "Zonealarm, your computor is protected".

    Am I missing a trick here?

    No, you are not missing anything. As far as I can see there is no icon warning. However, if you open the main interface will become red with an exclamation mark.
    Please note we are all users here. Next time a beta is in the works you may want to participate and report this GUI improvement to development team.

    How strange; I cannot think of any other security software that doesn't raise an alarm when switched off.

    Please also consider that if the ZA firewall drivers are shutdown by something else than the user you will be advised.
