    Lightbulb VSMON Use Maximum CPU Speed And Custom INstallation Of ZoneAlarm Free + AV

    Dear Members

    I am new in ZoneAlarm and after Installation of ZoneAlarm, the service VSMON uses maximum CPU speed. Is there ay way to reduce the uses?

    I Already Perform -

    1.) Click Start -> Run
    2.) Type MSConfig in the run box and click OK
    3.) Once in MSConfig, click the Startup Tab
    4.) Remove the checks from everything except ZLClient
    5.) Click the Services Tab
    6.) Place a check in "Hide All Microsoft Services"
    7.) Now remove checks from everything other than TrueVector Internet
    Monitor and ForceField (if present), and click OK.
    8.) Restart your computer

    [Mentioned In a ZA Forum]

    It significantly Slow The Browsing Speed. I Add The Following IP Address In Trusted Zone -

    192.168.1.0
    192.168.56.0

    Any Clue?

    And Here Is The Log -

    ZoneAlarm Free Antivirus + Firewall version: 12.0.104.000
    Vsmon version: 12.0.104.000
    Driver version: 12.0.104.000
    Antivirus engine version: 8.3.2.4
    Antivirus signature DAT file version: 1128926176

    My Last Question is - Can I Stop ZA Firewall permanently? Or Can I skip it during Installation? I Can't find any skip option during the installation.

    Please Suggest

    Hello;

    Here is a Quote from the Forum Moderator on CPU usage by Vsmon.exe

    Sorry, Running applications that keep a constant internet connection open will create extra cycles to be used for ZA. Your basically constantly pushing data through ZA that it has to analyze so there will be more resources used and 50% and more is not unusual with these types of applications.

    Its always been this way with ZA its just how the ZA core technology works and it nothing that can be changed or fixed because its working as designed.

    Best advise don't run these kinds of apps all the time.

    what means maximum CPU speed ? The memory usage should be around 200 MB. The CPU usage should be very low. If it's extremely high after the installation then there went something wrong during installation.

    No, ZA's major function is the firewall. You can't just install the AV. You may stop the firewall running via the menue and use another (windows firewall e.g.) instead but I wouldn't recommend it. Either use ZA as it is or use another AV-software.
