    Question scan exceptions don't work

My download manager (iGetter) downloads a file from the web as several B:\temp\xxx.tmp files. Those do not need to be scanned, as the resulting file is in another folder.
So I tell ZASS to leave alone both B:\temp\ and *.tmp by adding exceptions for On-Access Scan.
Still, when downloading a file, the speed is terrible, and Resource Monitor shows vsmon.exe hard at work on those *.tmp files.

    What gives?

Right click the ZA icon near the clock, about, copy to clipboard, paste it in a reply. Remove the license key.

OS version? Other security tools installed? Defrag tools? Download manager type? Java based? Executable? First time you see this problem? Tried to disable any ZA feature to see if there is any difference? Try to reset the ZA to default settings? Any custom settings applied to ZA? PC type? RAM? CPU?

More information you post more likely other users here may be able to guess the problem and suggest potential solutions. Otherwise its like shooting in the dark

Assuming you have inserted correctly the exceptions then I would look to other parts of ZA. Try to selectively disable functions of ZA. E.g. first turning off completely the ZA application control then fully turning off the firewall to see if you see any improvement.

It may also be linked to RAM available causing the system to drop too much data on HD, it may be linked to location you saving the file. Is B an external drive? Does it happen the same if you drop the file on the main C drive? Is ZA installed on C:?

Finally it can be an incompatibility with ZA and the specific software you use. Normally accelerators may clash with ZA firewall needs to scan the traffic.

For the latter case you may contact the developers of that downloading software and check if they are aware of any incompatibility.

You could also join the ZA beta program (currently closed but may be opening soon again - www.zonealarm/beta ) so that you can test new version of ZA and feedback directly the developer of ZA of the issue, if present also in the beta.

Finally, as you are a licensed user of ZA, you can contact, free of charge, the official ZA technical support at the link in my signature (look for the live chat icon at the main support site) as we are all user here.

    Thanks,
    Fax

Turning off Antivirus & Anti-spyware leaves the tmp files alone.
I also tried Scan Target, changing B:\temp to skip - still scans.

Have you added the exclusion also to the download manager executable/folder? What about the other questions above??

I tried downloading without the download mgr. My browser uses the same temp dir, and gets stuck in just the same way. So ZASS is the guilty party. Will contact support.

Then likely something specific to your system as if this was generalised we should see here many complaining

Please let us know if and how you resolved it.
