    Default Microsoft Visual C++ 2008

    Howdy,
ZA force install Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 run-time without checking if it's already installed or not, that's not problem as long as you include the latest version of Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 with your new installers.
I just downloaded ZA Free latest version and it installed Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 version 9.0.30729 while latest version is 9.0.30729.6161.
Search on Microsoft and you'll find the newer version and you may include that one in your next installers.
    Cheers.

Could you please provide more information on the issue? Both versions you mention refers to the same C++ package (Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Service Pack 1).

OS used? Exact ZA version you try to install? How to reproduce the problem? I.e. where exactly are the files and the version? Which exactly should be the link to the correct redistributable?

More diagnostic you post better it is in case any ZA staff browse this user forum.

    Thanks,
    Fax

We install the latest version that Microsoft will allow us to install from our software.

If its not the latest then your MS Updates will update it when needed.

Nothing to worry about its not going to cause any issues for you as far as what ZA installs.

The problem is very easy: MS VC++ 2008 does not check itself to terminate setup if its newer version is already installed.
Also if older version is going to install, it also will be installed even if you have newer version installed.
The result is that you can install almost all builds of MS VC++ 2008 on your system!

"We install the latest version that Microsoft will allow us to install from our software."

You're installing 9.0.30729 and latest version is 9.0.30729.6161, so you're implying that Microsoft does not allow you to install 9.0.30729.6161 while these are free redistributables?

Anyway, this is the link to the latest version of MS VC++ 2008 redistributable INCLUDING a MFC Security Update: 9.0.30729.6161

    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downl....aspx?id=26368

Check the release date and digital signature signing time against your version.

The information was passed on. If development feels it needs to be upgraded it will be. Its not considered a bug or security threat so it probably will be a very low priority.

Unfortunately there be no way to get feedback when or if it will be updated, sorry.
