    Hi!

please always search before posting, there is a sticky thread for these problems.

[SOLVED] Zone alarm ignores deny list
    https://www.zonealarm.com/forums/sho...ores-deny-list

Please note that ZA is not designed to block trusted and certified applications running on the system but unknown and potentially dangerous components. The setup you aim at is more linked to parental control or user restriction policy on applications installed on the system. Please also note that such settings will imply a pop-up galore, wrong answer to pop-up may also break the system.

If you do not like Outlook to check for e-mail set it to manual. Also note that XP is not anymore supported by Microsoft and therefore more time will pass less effective ZA will be in protecting your PC.

    Thanks,
    Fax

Sorry all users here no ZA staff on top ZAfree offer no official support. In any case, I doubt that ZA development will release any information on how ZA is designed.

Unless you have any more specific clarification I will close soon this thread as we have already addressed the main question and this is the same as contained in the sticky thread.

    Thanks,

Sorry, again all users here we don't know the applications in that repository. Remember that you may need to remove those application and components in the ZA application control after having changed the ZA settings. Also you may need to turn OFF smartdefense.

As already mentioned, this is not the main objective of the ZA firewall (i.e. blocking trusted programs) you need to look for a different software. In term of security if you do not trust applications into the system you should not have them installed and concentrate your focus not to block the inside but the unknowns trying to get in.

Moreover, some key application (flash, java, etc.) must be kept updated at all times as they are commonly targeted by vulnerabilities. Manual update will further amplify the attack surface by malware.

Finally, if you a minimal uncertainty about trusting a program especially if of security nature then you should stay away from it and choose only one for which you can use its full functionality rather than blocking it from working.

    Thanks,
