Default Host Process for Windows Services was blocked...

All of the sudden, I am getting *continuous* pop-ups saying:

"Host Process for Windows Services was blocked from accepting a connection from the internet (254.128.0.0:Port 49319).

The pop-ups continue with only PORT number changing among what seems like random numbers.

    I have ZAP 13.0.208.000

    Whats going on?

Can you clarify your ZA firewall setup? What do you see under the ZA zones exactly?
What you see can be perfectly normal, a timed out connection or a connection happening at boot while not all services and components are in place. You may see many of this in your logs.

Btw, there should not be a pop-up but just a record in the logs unless you have altered the log settings.... just keep the settings at default to avoid been flooded by useles messages.

Really difficult to diagnose unless in front of the system. But a good signal that ZA is doing his work.

    Sorry,

    Some history...

I have had these same zones and config for zonealarm for many weeks. Meaning, that I already enabled all popups for all alerts weeks ago, so for weeks this popup never appeared before.

This started to happen over an hour after I booted up my PC and didn't correlate to anything I did (ie. I didnt visit a website right when this started happening).

    The zones are:

    Network 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0 Public
    DHCP Server 192.168.1.1 Public
    My Local Lan 192.168.1.100-192.168.1.150 Trusted

    What I did:
    -------------
    Rebooted - still happening
    Reset my Cable modem/router
Rebooted 2nd time - still happening
Rebooted third time - got a "runonce" app crash and ZA didnt load (this happens once every couple of weeks, I just reboot again and everything is ok)
Rebooted 4th time - ZA running OK and no more popups.

So, things seem OK now, but I concerned it can come back out of the blue again.

Just figured out the cause by mistake!

I rarely use a notebook, but today I turned it on for something, and I just noticed that when it went to sleep, it must have been right when I did my forth reboot of my desktop, and that's why the popups went away.

I just woke up my notebook and low and behold the pops came back.

It seems some network service on the notebook is scanning the network and causing the popups

Weird setup... First of all if you set your router/DHCP server (i.e. the responsible to release to you an IP address and therefore been able to connect) as public you risk to have connection problems or loss of connection especially at boot/sleep/hybern/refresh/ etc....

Secondly, why setting your LAN to Public but then set a wide range of IPs to Trusted? Are the addresses outside the 100-150 used at all? if not, then have this range set in your router and just set 192.168.1.0/255.255..... as trusted.

Important: double check that your ZA trusted zone is set to MEDIUM and not HIGH.

    Thanks,
