As far as I understand you are now in the situation that you cannot even install it. This points to other issue with the system. Do you have full access to the system? Any hard disk or permission problems? Have you tried before trying to install to run the ZA removal tool again always followed by a reboot.

    Is your user profile corrupted?

Have you tried to create a new user in the system and install from there?

I am quickly running out of ideas, Sorry.
I would also seriously think to upgrade to a supported OS.

It'll say my computer isn't protected, and I click "Fix Now" and then it temporarily says my computer is protected, during this the Update and Scan buttons at the top are greyed out. After a while, Update because clickable and Scan is still greyed out and it says my computer is unprotected. I went into settings and specifically switched anti virus/spywards to ON but it then switches itself to off. I checked for updates and Zone Alarm is up to date. This didn't happen until after I updated my OS (Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, it did 12 updates.) Before updating W7 ZoneAlarm was working just fine. On the main screen, both INTERNET and IDENTITY AND DATA are green, but COMPUTER says "At Risk."

According to the program, it's currently running on version 12.0.104.000. (Zone Alarm Extreme Security with Datalock.)

It's a little comforting to know I'm not the only one having this issue.
i'm getting the exact same problem. except my specs are...

    ZoneAlarm Extreme Security 11.0.780.000
    Windows 7 x64 SP1

this problem started recently, but i don't know exactly how long this has been happening since i don't usually open the ZA screen to look at the status. and there is no indicator of this problem via the system tray icon and there is no popup about this. i just randomly found out today when i looked at the ZA screen.

since there are multiple recent topics reporting a similar problem on various ZA versions from 11-13, this problem seems to be the fault of either ZA or recent windows updates. so it's not the fault of the user or their system.

NOTE: i sometimes manage to complete a manual definitions update--but this seems random. usually i still get the error when trying to update. and overall, the problem still persists with the AV component always turning itself off after several seconds.

Please do not hijack other users threads as this discussion is about ZA version 13. As you are using an outdated and not support ZA I am afraid you will need to solve your problem alone as you cannot contact official support for this.
