Default IBM SPSS 22 statistics package blocked > Server Software not supported

I have seen one or two questions raised regarding IBM's SPSS statistics package and running it with ZA software.

Any body successfully running these two packages together?

As part of the start up the SPSS software requires to connect to the local PC, ZA stops this even when suspended the only way I have managed to run SPSS is to completely uninstall ZA?

Any help with settings would be appreciated, the obvious ones have been set and the programme given full access though this does not appear to allow the local connection.
    Thanks

    Hello;

Right click the ZA icon near the clock --> about --> copy to clipboard --> paste it here.

Exact version of OS used? XP SP3?, Vista SP2?, Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8? 8.1?

Other security Programs running on the Computer?
is this a Desktop PC? or Laptop? or Netbook?

The More information you post more likely other users here will be able to help and suggest potential remedial actions.

Depending on the ZA version and Windows OS used you may have different steps to follow to better troubleshoot the issue.

This is current version 13.3.052.000 :

    http://server.iad.liveperson.net/hc/...10&action=view

If you setup ZoneAlarm at defaults settings.Check yor logs to see what is being blocked.

The easiest way to add something to the Trusted Zone is to go to Tools | Logs | Log Viewer and see if the IP address, network, host, or site has shown up in the logs. Right-click it and choose Add to Zone | Trusted.

Btw: Sounds like you're setting up VM.If that is the case.

Do Search of the Forum on virtual machine you'll fine something along this lines:

No version of ZoneAlarm is supported under any type of VM from any company.

    ZoneAlarm with Antivirus version: 13.3.209.000

    Vsmon version: 13.3.209.0
    Driver version: 13.2.18.0
    Antivirus engine version: 8.3.4.7
Antivirus signature DAT file version: 1160727168

    Windows 7 home Premium SP1
    I7 - 3770 3.4 GHz 8 GB ram 64 bit OS

Data requested, I did notice Java making reference to Virtual Machine at one point. I will check the logs and see if I can pick up a specific IP dress to add to the safe zone.

    Thanks for the feedback.

    Hi Sky

    thanks for the link.

When I added the loop back IP address 12.0.0.1 then the PC would start up but on going into an account it produced black screens with the mouse pointer visible nothing else, CADel no good had to bounce the machine.

Had to go into add remove via safe view and uninstall ZA then restart ok.

ODD but SPSS will run ONLY when ZA is uninstalled running in off or Exit would still block the SPSS starting up?

Can you qualify the VM statement does it mean

ZA will not protect a VM setup o r
ZA will not permit any interaction to/from a VM?

    Thanks

    Hello;

here is my 2 cents worth?

1.) SPSS may be a Conflict or may be conflicting with Zone Alarm, both programs may be trying to use the same access to Windows Core process, which means they will not get along with each other..

if this is the case, you may need to contact the vender of your "IBM SPSS 22 statistics package" for help?

2.) No version of ZoneAlarm is supported under any type of VM from any company.

This means You can not run or install Zone Alarm on any computer that uses a "VM" partician.. Zone Alarm is not compatible with VM..

3.) I don't know if the "IBM SPSS 22 statistics package" is a Data Server type Software? if so, Zone Alarm is not Designed to run on any Server environment..

    Hi GeorgeV

When installing the software it asks f you wish to run the Network (server) option or standalone PC option. It does appear to invoke java VM during installation.
I choose stand alone PC but that is likely to be superficial and at that point it then uses VM to build a virtual data server to replace the unavailable network.

So highly likely its not going t like ZA on two counts.

Thanks for the help given here.

I think its install on a second machine and run in isolation.

    Cheers

I have the same problem, running zonealarm on windows 8.1. I'm not using any virtual machines, and zonealarm is set to allow all SPSS and Java components.

    As already suggested by GeorgeV.

No version of ZoneAlarm is supported under any type of VM from any company.

    See here for better understanding.
