    Question [SOLVED] no update possible - after installation --> clean install v13.3; Reset DATA

    Hello,

    I bought Zone Alarm (Extreme Security) some time ago. Unfortunately, "no" update possible! A new installation was not successful!

    Whenever posting here- it is always advisable to list Full details of your Computer:


    Right click the ZA icon near the clock --> About --> Copy to Clipboard --> Paste in a reply here. Mind to remove the license key (if applicable).

    Exact version of OS used? XP SP3? Windows 7 SP? Windows 8? 8.1?

    Localized Language version? or English version?

    Other security Programs running on the desktop PC? or Laptop? or Netbook?

    Since when have you are experiencing the problem?

    Did ZA ever worked correctly?

    The More information you post more likely other users here will be able to help and suggest potential remedial actions.

    ZA has always worked, except for two month. I have win7 / 64 / German, it runs no other security software.

    ZoneAlarm Extreme Security version: 13.1.211.000 ZoneAlarm license key: Vsmon-Version: 13.1.211.0 Driver Version: 13.1.123.0 Anti-virus engine version: 8.3.4.4 Anti-virus signature DAT file version: 1153912064 Anti-Spam Version: 6.3.1.4975

    I "can not" uninstall the existing version! message:
    "Failed to parse package configuration"

    Sounds like there is permission corruption on your system that does not allow ZA to work or even the uninstaller to remove ZA. Did you change something on C:\\? Created other drivers and installed on them? Note that ZA only support installs on C:\\.

    You may want to try to use the clean install procedure including running the clean.exe (ZA removal tool). Be sure to download it fresh as it changes often.

    But if permissions on the system are messed up or corrupted you will likely have problems even with the removal tool.

    Probably best to check Microsoft "fixit" utilities for permission issues on the system.

    Sometime creating a new fresh admin user on the system and install from there could help.

    I have now uninstalled ZA with the removing tool, everything worked!
    I then reinstalled ZA, everything ok!

    ZoneAlarm Extreme Security version: 13.3.052.000
    ZoneAlarm license key:
    Vsmon Version: 13.3.52.0
    Driver Version: 13.2.18.0
    Anti-virus engine version: 8.3.4.7
    Anti-virus signature DAT file version: 1154955712
    Anti-Spam Version: 6.4.3.2157

    But unfortunately it is the same image as the top!
    "No update available"!

    Hi;
    It sounds like possibly a Corrupted DATA configuration?

    Here are two suggestions..

    1.) try Resetting your Data Base and any Corrupted AV Data..

    Bring up ZA main page and Click "TOOLS"
    click "Preferences"
    Click "Reset to Default"
    a window will popup to confirm you want to Reset..
    Check the Box that says Also Reset AV data to Default..
    Click OK..
    Reboot computer and try to Update Now again..
    should look something like this..

    Antivirus signature DAT file version: 1158630784 <=



    if this does not work, then option 2 Contact the official Tech Support in my Signature..

    2.) best to contact directly the official ZA technical support at the link in my signature.
    Once at the main ZA support click on "contact us" (top left of the page). If you contact them during Business hours you will be served on the spot.

    Explain in detail the problem and what you have done to resolve it. Follow the troubleshooting instruction by support and go back to them if you are not able to resolve your issue.

    NOTE : Let us know here if you managed to solve the problem. It may help other users browsing this board for the same problem.

    Sorry posting personal communication is against the Terms of Use of this board.

    In summary: Your antivirus updates works fine, it is the product update that gives you an error.
    Support explained that it is a known issue and there is nothing to worry as you are already with the latest product
