Default [SOLVED] How to exclude from detection potentially unwanted applications

Can someone tell me how to download NirLauncher
    -hxxp://launcher.xxx.xxx/download.html-
while ZoneAlarm Extreme Security is installed.

After unchecking "Enable Web Monitoring" the download no longer appears to be blocked. However, ZA deletes the file. Choosing "Snooze Antivirus for 5 minutes" does not help.

This is by design as this software is intended to reveal passwords in many different areas, from webforms, e-mail, wifi. Therefore marked as potentially unwanted by Kaspersky engine in ZA (PWStools).

To be able to use these applications you will need to exclude them from the ZA antivirus.

Steps to exclude them are explained here:
How to diagnose and/or report antivirus/antispyware false positives
Its the same procedure that is applicable to FPs except that these are not false positives and therefore cannot be reclassified.

Remember that you need to exclude them both from the on-access and on-demand scanning. See bold text in the above hyperlink.

    Thanks,

The difficulty is not with running NirSoft programs. That can be done by excepting a folder in my toolkit. Rather, the difficulty is in downloading the Zip file.

Sorry, I may have misunderstood your initial message, I thought you resolved the downloading issue by disabling the web scanner and/or pausing the AV. The rest will be taken care by the procedure as detailed in my previous hyperlink (exclusion from on-access and on-demand detections).

If this is not the case please clarify better the problem.

    Thanks,

Switching "Antivirus/Anti-Spyware" to OFF while downloading is sufficient, it turns out. Firefox 31 was the culprit. It was Firefox that was removing to downloaded file while ZA was crippled, not ZA. This had me flummoxed. Opera was the solution.

I am glad to hear you managed to resolve the issue and thank you for taking the time to report back about it. As the issue seems resolved I revise the thread title and closing it.

Do not hesitate to open a new thread for any other ZA product related issues.
